Christians Against Poverty is a charity that gives free help to everyone regardless of age, gender, faith or background. Starting 20 years ago, it first offered debt counselling and now offers a range of help to tens of thousands of people in hardship across the UK every year. Anyone in need of help should call 0800 3280006.

Inspired by His Holiness Pope Francis’s encyclical Laudato Si’, our mission is to bring people together and rebuild the lungs of our planet by planting seven million trees, in one year, across the beautiful continent of Africa. See Laudato website for further details.

A well-kept secret!

Alsager Library offers a “Home delivery service” for anyone who cannot get to the library. As the number of residents making use of it has dropped they are even looking for new people to serve! Ideal particularly for the housebound.   Perhaps you have a loved one or friend or neighbour who could benefit.  All that is needed is for someone to telephone the library.   A few questions will be asked, type of books/authors preferred, if large is print needed, even audio books for the partially sighted or the blind. Books will then be selected by one of the Library staff and a volunteer from RVS (formerly WRVS) will deliver the books on a Tuesday afternoon. They will also take back the previous lot. New applicants will be told when to expect their first delivery. A record will be kept of books issued.

Anyone wishing to take advantage of this well-kept secret should contact the library.
